I stepped out of my comfort zone. But just for a moment
I stepped out of my comfort zone. But just for a moment. Actually, I only stuck out one leg and an arm, then immediately retreated. It was just to change the light bulb in the kitchen. It took me only 2 days, which, for me, is an outstanding achievement.
My enthusiasm for these so-called household chores has skyrocketed ever since my life drastically changed with the move from Poland to Germany. Before, it would have taken me at least a week. Heck! When the courier delivered my awesome astronaut-like desk and chair, I assembled them right away. And it even brought me joy!
I’ve despised all kinds of such tasks my whole life. Renovations, rearrangements, assembling furniture, and the like. I think about three fiancées left me because of that. Considering those weren’t very successful relationships, my aversion to leaving my comfort zone and taking on the challenge of mounting a hook on the wall to hang a picture turned out to be beneficial. For both sides. They have husbands who hang pictures and assemble furniture, and I have peace and quiet. Win-win, really.
But thinking about it for a moment, the topic is quite serious. I’ve wondered why that is. Why I’ve always loathed all these home-renovation-assembly works, yet when the desk arrived recently, there was no question I wouldn’t assemble it and rejoice like a kid on a trip to a…
