The Benefits of Meditation

Spirituality is trendy. It has been for at least several decades. The Beatles had their own guru; stars and celebrities teach meditation in between cooking. Meditation is in vogue. It’s a trend worse than going gluten-free or keto, reading Paulo Coelho novels, or drinking urine.

Lately, I’ve been browsing various top blogs, and of course, the topic of meditation keeps popping up, with claims of how amazing it is. But no, my dear ones. Meditation doesn’t bring any benefits. That’s not its purpose. If meditation brings you benefits, you’re like an arrow flying straight to hell.

But how can that be?! Why is that?! Those monks in saffron robes are so COOOLLLL, and that Dealy Lama guy is so smiley. Even on morning TV, there was a celebrity advocating meditation because they attended a week-long course and are now a different person. Admittedly, just as stupid and shallow… but different.

And they recommended this awesome meditation app, and you can buy a course where they lead various meditations. Then you feel all COOOLLLL and it’s so pleasant.

What’s the best meditation course? Go to a cancer ward or a nursing home and spend a few months there. In the past, yogis spent months or even years in mountain retreats, on cremation grounds, and cemeteries. Without apps, advice from celebrities, or meditation vacations in luxury spa…
